The Holy Bible (1763) 1st Bible Printed in USA Colonies!

First Bible Made in the USA!!!
Christopher Saur (1693-1758) printed the first Bible (the first Bible printed in the US in a European language-German)-an edition of 1200 copies-in 1743 based on Martin Luther's German translation. This 1763 Bible was printed as an edition of 2000 copies (the first Bible printed on American made paper) by Saur's son who was also called Christoph (1721-1784).

It is a Protestant Bible as the Apocrypha only includes the books that Luther has used but Saur also added III and IV Esdras (now referred to as I and II Esdras by Protestants) and III Macabees.

This is the most notable example of a German Quarto Size book, generally measuring approximately 8.5 inches by 11 inches (21.5 cm x 27.9 cm).

Books this rare are most often found in the collections of museums, world-class libraries, and those with unparalleled taste.
